Every year when Father’s Day rolled around my sister and I had the brilliant idea to buy my dad mustache wax and Old Spice. As you can see from this picture, he did sport a mustache growing up. So naturally mustache wax was a given. And the Old Spice well, who doesn’t wear Old Spice?
As we grew older we realized that these oh-so-thoughtful gifts were not that thoughtful after all and we needed to up our game. Besides what the heck is mustache wax anyway?
I remember recently asking my dad what he did with all those tubes of wax and bottles of cologne. He laughed and said “I still have a whole closet full of them.”
Well Dad, this year you’ll be happy to know we won’t be sending any mustache wax or Old Spice. Instead, I’ll be playing Irish music tonight (At the Bees Knees in Morrisville) in honor of you. Thanks for bringing me into this world. I love you. Happy Father’s Day!
