Good night and joy be with you all…

Though I have yet to go to Ireland, I’m told that at the end of the night the last song played at a session is The Parting Glass. I’m not sure if this is still true but one of these days I’ll head across the pond to find out (let me know if you’d like to join me).

Since tomorrow is the last Ri Ra session of the season, I thought it would be a good opportunity to share one of my favorite band’s rendition of The Parting Glass. I’d also like to thank Harold Kaplan for hosting the Ri Ra session all summer! It was a fun session.

Here are the Wailin’ Jenny’s when they visited Higher Ground:

  1. Hi Kat, lovely version, though I think my favorite is Davey Arthur’s in the soundtrack to Waking Ned Divine. When you make it over to Ireland you’re more apt to hear the national anthem than the parting glass, or more than likely the bartender just telling people times up. Either way you’ll be in Ireland at the end of another glorious day. This might be the year to go.
    Cheers,
    Brian.
