I’ve decided to embrace the chaos of December by… adding more to it. Starting next week, I’m kicking off a “Tune a Week” series—and not just for December. I’m committing to doing this every week for the next year. Yes, a full year of tunes. Hold me to it.
Why? A few reasons. First, I want to build my repertoire in a real, intentional way—not just collecting half-learned tunes that fall out of my head the moment I look away. And second, I could honestly use some built-in accountability to practice consistently. Making it public feels like the right kind of gentle pressure.
December felt like the perfect launch point. It’s a month that’s equal parts chaos and coziness, and slipping a new tune into the world each week seems like a good way to steady myself—and maybe give you something to tap your foot to while navigating holiday mayhem.
Some tunes will be old favorites, some will be brand-new, and a few will be those “I’ve meant to learn this” pieces that have been haunting my tune list forever. I’ll post a short recording, a few thoughts, maybe a story if the tune insists on one.
So if you want a little trad in your week, stick around. One tune, every week, for a year. Nothing fancy—just music, shared for the fun of it and the discipline of showing up.
