As the new year quickly approaches, I feel myself getting sucked into making a few resolutions. I usually don’t make a new year’s resolution because well, they never last, and I beat myself up because of it. However, I do think with a new year coming and a fresh new start, I have two things I would like to do: Write more and practice more.
Resolution 1: Write more consistently on my blog
It’s been a busy year so I haven’t been writing much but I’m hoping to share more experiences with you throughout the year. I plan to publish a post once a week throughout the year.
If you have a topic you’d like me to write about, list it in the comments below or fill out the contact form with your idea.
I also welcome anyone who wants to write a guest blog post. Please keep in mind the goal of my blog is to share experiences about traditional Irish music, and Irish sessions in and around Vermont.
Resolution 2: Practice my fiddle more consistently
I’m really not that disciplined lately. I seem to only practice when I’m taking a class or preparing for a gig. I vow to set aside 3-5 hours each week to practice for the sake of just getting better.
Ringing in the New Year
Whether you vow to make a new year’s resolution or not, I wish you all, the very best in 2019 and hope that your year is filled with laughter, friendship, and beautiful music.
And a quick shameless plug: my band Green Corduroy will be ringing in the Irish new year at Ri Ra in Burlington on January 31 from 6-9pm. Here are the details. Hope to see you there!
Happy New Year everyone!
