Fiddles and Harps

There is nothing more Celtic than fiddles and harps. If you like Celtic and folk music you’re going to love this weekend with Dominique Dodge on harp & Emerald Rae on fiddle, a double bill with a side of collaboration:

Emerald Rae, fiddler and folk singer

Boston-based Fiddler & Folksinger Emerald Rae creates a groove-heavy sound reminiscent of old country blended with the intricacy of Celtic fiddle and rocked-up droning accompaniment. Complimented by sultry vocals and introspective lyrics that mirror old folktales, Emerald Rae brings the fiddling-singing combo to a whole new plateau. Her intriguingly quirky songwriting is steeped in the echos of traditional music, sewn together with imaginative arranging that will pique your curiosity.

Dominique Dodge, harpist and singer

Dominique Dodge is a harper and singer who lives in Vermont. She is deeply grounded in the music and song traditions of Cape Breton, Ireland, and Scotland. Dominique has a passion for melody-driven dance music and responsive, rhythmic accompaniment, as well as for songs, airs, and 18th century harp music. She is a former Fulbright Scholar and graduate of the MA in Irish Music Performance at the University of Limerick. She also holds a BA Honours in Scottish Music from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow. Dominique has extensive experience in traditional arts education and maintains a busy and vibrant teaching practice. She is a dedicated learner of Scottish Gaelic and has been performing, recording and teaching traditional music and song on both sides of the Atlantic for over ten years.
