No matter how many tunes you learn, or how good you play them, it’s always more fun to play with other people. Whether it’s just getting together in someone’s house, performing for an audience or playing in a session, music is a social thing and is meant to be shared.
One of the things I love about living in Vermont besides the beautiful scenery and the fact that people care about each other, is there is a large community of Irish musicians and sessions all around the state to play in.
Aside from the weekly Saturday session at Bagitos in Montpelier (from 2-5pm), there are two more sessions coming up in the next week to play in or listen to:
- Thursday, December 8 – Check out the session in Charlotte from 7-9:30pm. All Irish musicians are welcome. It’s held in a neighborhood common house (100 Ten Stone Circle, Charlotte), on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of every month. It’s a very informal session held in a cozy space. Food and drink are welcome.
- Thursday, December 15 – Have a nice dinner at the Jericho Cafe and then stay for the session from 7-9pm. All Irish musicians are welcome. This session happens on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month.
The list doesn’t stop there though. For more session info visit: Irish sessions in Vermont. If you know of a session that is not on the list, please email me and I’ll publish it. Happy playing!
